Stoney Creek Jr. Warriors AA/AE Tryouts - 2010/11

POLICIES - SCHEDULE - AAA INFORMATION (permission to skate forms)

SCMHA TRYOUT POLICIES 2010-2011
Updated: March 24, 2010

  1. Tryouts are open to all registered Stoney Creek Residents.

  2. Tryout fees are $70.00 and must be paid prior to any participation.  Tryout fees include a jersey that the player may keep.

  3. Players may only miss one of the scheduled tryout sessions. (ie) if there are 5 AA/AE Tryouts you must be at 4 out of 5 in order to make the AA Team.  If there are 3 AE Tryouts you must participate in the AA/AE Tryouts and you must be at all 3 AE Tryouts in order to make the AE Team.  All players must participate in the AA/AE Tryouts. No player may tryout for the AE Team if they have not participated in the AA/AE Tryouts. The only exemptions are injury or illness, must have a doctor’s note (the Head Coach, The Director of Rep and The Technical  Director must be notified immediately of any Doctor’s note) or still actively participating in the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs AAA tryouts.  Any other “AAA” centres will not be part of this exemption.  Once a player is released from the Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs he/she may not miss any sessions.  They cannot go to another AAA centre and miss any SCMHA Tryout Sessions.  The player needs to report to the SCMHA Tryouts as soon as they are released. All ice sessions will be tryouts.

  4. All players must participate in their applicable age category. Anyone wishing to tryout for a higher age group must submit a request in writing to the Director of Rep and the Technical Director no later than April 16, 2010 at 6:00pm.  Either by email fmercuri@cogeco.ca and  technicaldirector@scmha.org or drop a letter in our mailbox at Valley Park to both Frank Mercuri, Director of Rep and John Jagusic, Technical Director.  Any late requests will not be considered. Once the request is submitted it will not be revoked unless ordered by the Director of Rep and the Technical Director

      1. Tyke aged players MAY NOT tryout for the higher age group.

Consideration for exception of this policy will be deliberated on a player by player basis. The decisions of the Rep Tryout Sub-Committee will be final.

      2. Protocol  for the Player Age Exception are as follows:

        1. GOALTENDERS  - must be rated number one (1) goaltender trying out for
                 the applicable age category
        2. DEFENCE – must be rated number one (1) defenceman trying out for the
                 applicable age category
        3. FORWARD – must be rated number one (1) forward trying out for the
                  applicable age category

  5. The Head Coach may reassign a player after the 2nd “AA” tryout and after the 1st “AE” tryout.  This will ensure that each player is guaranteed 3 tryouts.Whether a player is present or not at the first 2, AA Tryouts they will still count  as 2 for the coach, meaning if a player shows up to the 2nd tryout but missed the 1st he/she may still be released and it will count as 2 out of 3 guaranteed tryouts.  Exception is if player is actively participating in the  Hamilton Jr. Bulldogs AAA Tryouts.

  6. The AA Team must be filled before the AE Team can be filled.    All teams are expected to take a minimum of 15 skaters and 2 goaltenders.  If in any age group, there is not 2 goaltenders per team, the Rep Operations Committee and the Technical Committee will contact goaltenders who have not participated in the tryouts, to see if they may be interested in trying out.

  7. If a Head coach decides to keep an injured player he must inform everyone at the tryouts that 16 spots are now available.  The Head Coach, the Rep Director and the Technical Director must be notified immediately of any doctor’s note that may be presented.  If there is a player with a valid Doctor’s note the AA Coach has the choice of saving a spot for that player of reassigning that player to the AE Team.  The AE Coach must ensure that the injured player has the opportunity to be seen in a tryout, unless there is documentation (ie. evaluations) that will allow the player to be reassigned to Houseleague.  ANY OF THESE SITUATIONS MUST BE DELIBERATED BY THE REP DIRECTOR, THE TECHNICAL DIRECTOR AND THE HEAD COACH.

  8. Please note that for the upcoming season the Rep Surcharges will be due on August 31, 2010 and September 30, 2010.

  9. SCMHA reserves the right to not roster a select team in a division until all rep teams have been rostered in the same division.

NOTE:  Players who enter into the tryouts and who choose to bypass the policies set above will forfeit their eligibility to continue for consideration for any REP TEAM and will be reassigned to Houseleague for the 2010-2011 season.
